Commies open a coffee shop in Amman and more

#1

Jafra, is the newest coffee shop in Amman’s old city center (Wast Balad) that was launched this past October. The colorful launching was a great success attracting hundreds of people such as writers, journalists, artists, union activists and others. The owners have announced that this place comes to shorten the gap in the Jordanian cultural and social scenes, the location was chosen because Wast Balad has always been Jordan’s “real” and true face. They insisted that it’s not a place for elitists only.

Yeah great stuff and all, but here are some tips to make this place appealing to others non-than communists and Muk.hbarat (se.cret serv.ice):
1. Free Wireless internet (Would get you JP Citizens)
2. All menus in English ,sell the 200ml Coke for JD1.7 just like other “cool” places in town, you know, keep’ in it real.
3. Seriously why would a young Jordanian go to such places? Okay, he might be a poser trying to convince his GF he’s sophisticated and stuff, but why all communist girls are geeky and in your face? This is bad for male members’ recruitment.
4. Stay away from such places, be a good citizen, go to university waste 6 hours in the “squares” eyeballing your special “ones” bombarding them with all that funky talk “Eeesh hal azrag?Eeesh ya 7elu, Emshi 3ala remshi”, don’t mangle with guys who talk too much, go out with the Shababs to a cool and hip place if you can afford it, if not go in mobs to Seveen, waste another 3 hours, go home watch Melody Hits TV, on weekends get one of those “educational CDs” for JD0.5.

PS: The word on the street is that their Sheesheh and sandwiches are really good, I didn’t go (I swear I didn’t, I swear)

University of Jordan is serious about their proposed disciplinary act. It deals a lot with vandalisms, fights, infringement of student clubs rights, and alcoholic and drug abuse. Every student will have the right to represent his/her full defense to an impartial tribunal before a disciplinary charge is taken. Nevertheless, if the student proof good conduct through the following academic years, the disciplinary charges will be dropped from your records.

What’s all the talk about Alcoholic and drug abuse? The draft talks about consumption and dealing on campus, yet it extends to the case of attending school under the influence. I guess you gotta be really drunk and drugged to get caught, otherwise if you usually rely on such educational enhancers, be careful of rats. Speaking of rats, the draft will give returning students who have committed felonies a chance to wipe off their record by proofing good conduct, so how exactly you would impress them and achieve good conduct?

Do you live in Irbid? If yes, then what you've been experiencing lately such as the power outage, slow internet connection and phones outage is not a sign of the times, this was caused because some morons have stolen communication cables and hubs. Well, they’ve been caught, the police found many high tech equipment for stealing cables in their hideout.

It seems this is the new trend nowadays. Cables are being dug and snitched almost on a daily basis. The trade secrets, experts and equipments are exported from Iraq.

Iraqis residing in Jordan have been lately the victims of thieves posing as sec.ret ser.vice personnels. You see, in Iraq it was common during Saddam’s regime that some random guy in civil clothes would stop you and search your pockets for “security reasons”. In Jordan no one has the right to do so unless they are a police member. These thieves got fake ID papers, so they’ll search your pockets and run away with the goods (cellphones, cash, etc).

You heard it people, no one has the right to stop you or search your pockets unless they display a big shiny metal badge .The problem is that many Iraqis (estimated Mil 1.3) don’t know how things work in Jordan when it comes to such issues. The police have introduced new badges that are clearly displayed for this sole reason. Report anyone suspicious, don’t take IDs or even badges for granted. No one has the right to randomly stop you, arrest you, or take you somewhere unless they are police members. If in doubt ask for their names, call 191 on the spot and check if they are for real.

A massage parlor operating in Gardens district has been raided last night, 3 women of Arab nationalities and 3 “customers” were arrested. The women were distributing business cards with photos of random women and their cell phone numbers claiming to be offering “massage services”, and lead “customers” to that center.

Mmmmh, now where have I seen something like this before? The other day there was some guy distributing one of these business cards on a traffic light. Anyways if you ever get your hands on one of those business cards, please do report them: Call one of those numbers 191,192,196,197 , don’t be afraid that you get yourself drawn in police questioning and stuff, they just want tips they could not careless who you are.

Lol,Yeah Jafra is a common name used by communists in their poems, wiritings, songs, etc. It refers to Palestine. It's a feminine name and I think it's a nme of a town, I'm not sure about this.
One poem says : Who don't know Jafra should put their heads in the ground.

Anon

Hello ,
first of all i should say that your space online is so lovely and warm and (PhotoFull),,
I was searching if there a website for Jafra cafe' and the search lead me to your comment on Jafra ,, I wouyld like to say that communists are not freaks or stranger creaturs to be isolated or gathered in a single place,, they could mix with other (normal) people ,, i dont think you will find a sign on thier clothes ( I am a communist ,take care )
i beleive you will find such a sign on thier minds , so you to talk to someone to know if he a communist or not. About Jafra, the best part that the music there is so different and cool i can't listen to such music other place, specially the great lebanease songs fopr the figures like ( Ziad, Julia ,Marcel, Zaky Nasif ..) , maybe because i am lebanese i like the loud music there ,,
otherewise , i agree with you about the decoration ,,
finally , again, your space is so cool ,

Ok it may be lat, but I was looking for information of new places to go when I will be in Amman next summer and I fined this, I’m Jordanian but right now, I’m away. last year I lived in a ex_communist country and what I can tell you about it, they are just the maximum of the humanity you can fined, and anti materialist totally, and I really love them, but those who never red a book because it is not cool, and can pay these money just for a drink for sure they are not at all, can not be communist l.
Sad is the feeling I have now people in Jordan never change they will always think about money and how to be cool, every year pass and I am away when I’m there is not normal more and more capitalists moles and more moles, buying is there need to be happy........and for sure . Even thou I have to say NICE blog I like hope to know more about my ex-city Amman ......
