So what I'm doing to empower Jordanian women? It's a tough question, considering that I'm a no one.
Well, I talk to my fellow MEN, telling them a woman needs to be of strong character, a partner, and a decision maker, a woman is able to handle herself just give her a chance ! A weak and oppressed women will not bring up your kids right, I think education is the key to empower women.
Women should be talking to women , after all it's women who culturally shape any society. Maybe it's time that in Jordan we have a serious magazine and in ARABIC, that's written by Jordanian women to Jordanian women, a magazine dealing with their daily concerns and specifically dealing with Jordanian issues, rather an all English elitist magazine, a magazine of substance, not photos of people partying or Nawal Zoghbi and Elissa feud over a designer dress.
Public schools in Jordan need massive improvements, starting with teachers. Education is the key, teachers should be qualified (75% Acceptance grade -4 years academic program) and make a good living (JD600+) .

wallahi ya firas in jordan there is alot to be done to empower women
when you use the word empower all that comes to men's head is giving women more power and this scares hem alot..they tend to forget that women are not only their wives, women are theier daughters ,sisters and mothers.
educating women is the first step, you might say this is happening, but not in all jordanian regions
supporting women ,encouraging them to accomplish more.
but also this scares men,coz from their point of view an educated independant woman might take their place and their chances for a decent job
what i find really important to be done is respecting women, their rights.
and in jordan i think the first step to be done is to condemn honor crimes by the government and treat them as "Crimes" with proper punishment

The thing is: The majority support honor crimes! This is why any suggestions to reconsider the law has been revoked by the parliament, this is the sad truth. And if you think about it, it's women who bring up their kids to think like this, when she allows her sons to go wild, while the girls are taught to stay at home and dream of only marrying the next guy their dad (El Hajj) agrees on. The only solution is that women like you, talk to other women who think having a girl is a bad thing, and they are born to serve their man....

I think the message is more important, don't you?
